Karen Elizabeth Lozner

Founder of Karen Elizabeth Couture

History

Born and raised in New York, Karen Elizabeth created her first “couture” design at a very young age. As a child, she would use her grandmother’s vintage sheets to make dresses for Barbie dolls. Scraps from the hem of jeans were redesigned into brand new jeans for “Barbie” . Thus began Karen’s adventure in fashion design.

While attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and majoring in Fashion Design, Karen completed her degree and was chosen as best designer of the year.

Upon graduating from FIT, Karen landed a job as an assistant designer. It was her creative and unique designs that quickly promoted her to the “Designer” position.

As a designer, Karen gained the knowledge and experience she would need in creating “designer-level” garments for women & girls. So in 2001, Karen decided that she wanted to achieve more as a designer and therefore, opened her own “designer-level”, clothing atelier business. Karen finally felt a sense of accomplishment while designing in her very own atelier.

Today, Karen Elizabeth Couture, stays true to herself and her customer by designing luxurious evening dresses, using superior fabrics such as silks, while still focusing on construction and detail. Her collection is based on “non-seasonal” luxury dresses that can be worn at any time of the year.

Karen incorporates hand sewn (couture) details into each of her modern dresses which are very much reminiscent of the 1950’s, “designer-fashion” labels such as Christian Dior & Chanel.

Karen entertains many designing opportunities by offering exclusive, “designer-level” evening wear, that is made to measure for her clients, including celebrity Jill Hennessy. She also participates in numerous trunk shows and fashion shows annually to launch the collection of the season.

Karen resides in New Jersey with her husband and two children. “karen elizabeth Couture” designs can be found in fine boutiques across
the country.
